Garden Design

In garden design, the design process is a meticulous journey that blends creativity with practicality. It begins with a thorough analysis of the site, considering factors such as soil quality, light exposure and existing flora. This is also an opportunity to meet with the customer to learn more about their lifestyle and garden needs. This information serves as the foundation for developing a series of different plans and mood boards to help the dream become a reality. Attention to detail is paramount during the selection of plants, materials and layout to ensure a cohesive and sustainable garden space that will thrive for years to come. Constant collaboration between the designer and customer is key to realising a garden that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional for the whole family.

Design Process

  • 1. Consultation

This is a crucial first step towards creating a garden that reflects our customer’s vision and needs. During the consultation, we take the time to understand preferences, lifestyle and any specific requirements you may have. We also assess the site conditions, taking into account factors such as sunlight exposure, soil quality and existing vegetation. Through a detailed assessment of the site, we can create a customised design proposal that includes the fee breakdown, design procedure and a summary of your goals for the space.

  • 2. Concept draft and mood board

This is where imagination meets expertise and by using the information gained from the consultation, a sketch is created that will focus on the layout rather than the specific details at this stage. We also present you with a mood board, capturing the essence of the design through a selection of colours, textures and materials, to visually communicate ideas. Another detailed meeting with you allows for feedback and refinements to take place, before moving onto the final, more detailed concept design.

  • 3. Final concept design and mood board

Once we have collaborated closely with you to refine ideas and make any changes necessary, we meticulously work on creating a 2D final concept plan and mood board for your garden. The concept plan illustrates the layout and key features, providing you with a tangible blueprint to envision the transformation of your garden. In parallel, the mood board ensures that every detail is thoughtfully considered to enhance the natural charm of your surroundings and bring your dream garden to life.

  • 4. Technical design

Technical design is the backbone of creating outdoor spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. We embrace the art of hand-drawn technical design to bring concepts to life in tangible landscapes. Through skillful execution of precise measurements and detail, we lay the groundwork for successful project implementation for any landscaper to use. By blending traditional methods with modern technology, we aim to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of our designs.

  • 5. Planting and plant schedule

We understand the importance of proper planting schedules for a thriving garden. Trust us to design a planting plan that evolves beautifully throughout the seasons to maximise the longevity of your outdoor space. With our expertise, we ensure that each plant is strategically placed based on its specific needs and optimal growing conditions. We will provide a detailed schedule of care for each plant to bring out the best in your garden, no matter the time of year. We can provide an additional service to help you with sourcing and even ordering plants if this is something you require.

  • 6. Extras and site inspections

A lighting plan with wiring channels is available upon request, to enhance the overall ambience of the garden. Following the completion of your garden design, we offer site inspections scheduled at a mutually agreeable time with you. These inspections ensure a smooth transition from concept to reality, where we meticulously review every detail of the design against the site's characteristics, assessing hardscape precision, plant positioning and overall design harmony. This can be as often as weekly meetings, or a visit at the end of the project to ‘sign off’ all specifications.
